Minnay University Project Proposed

Minnay Development Foundation (MDF) is engaged in the process of establishing a university in the Republic of Tanzania. The Proposed Minnay University will have the ability to offer certificates, diplomas, associate, bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees in different academic fields.

Quick Facts:
Tanzania has the general population of about 45 million people;  600,000 individuals complete high school and other academic institutions qualified to enter into universities every year. Meanwhile, all the universities and high learning institutions put together has only the capacity to admit 10,000-15,000 individual annually. The demand for skilled labor force is enormous and increases annually unless a constructive intervention takes place.

Because of highly competitive environment overseas and cost of living very few Tanzanians get the opportunity to study overseas for the first degrees; contributed to increasing restrictions in obtaining visas and more likelihood for migration, just in year 2006 only 80 individuals obtain bachelors degree outside Tanzania.

All universities in Tanzania has currently enrolled approximately 30,000 students, spread from bachelors to doctoral degrees in different fields. In the next 20 years the demand for education will continue to increase dramatically as awareness to knowledge and understanding increases.

Accomplishments:
The intention to establish a University has already been submitted to relevant authorities and the ball has started rolling.  The foundation is currently developing strategic plan documents and other necessary materials to be submitted as required by the accreditation body overseeing the establishment of the university. Currently, the members of the University Council are been recruited and interviewed, any individuals interested in serving as the council member should submit an inquiry letter to our headquarters with the credentials for considerations.

Horizon:
The foundation is currently planning to start breaking the ground as soon as possible, the approximate funds to erect basic facilities such as administration building, lecture theaters, dormitories, library and cafeteria in order to start training immediately under provisional licensure is approximately $15 million. This will have the initial capacity of enrolling at least 3000 students and grow annually by 10-20%. It is envisioned that Minnay University will be the biggest university in East and Central Africa with the full capacity to enroll about 50,000 students by year 2020 with satellite campuses in the neighboring countries of Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi, and Zimbabwe.

It is envisioned that MU  will be able to offer degrees in diverse academic fields such as engineering, medical and health sciences, business, administration & management, education and general arts and sciences.
